Join Takeda as a Manager Lab Operations where you will be part of team dedicated to supporting the labs and scientists of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The goal is manage and improve the lab operation processes to create an efficient lab space for our scientists. Through collaboration with other supporting functions, the position is responsible for day to day lab operations including oversight of equipment, consumables, safety, lab moves, and facilities within the department. As part of the Lab Operations, you will report to Director of Lab Operations and will work with Facilities, IT, Quality, EH&S, Finance, Procurement, and multiple externals including Service Providers and Supply Vendors.
Contact for lab operations for Pharmaceutical sciences department in Lexington between internal department stakeholders and internal partners including Facilities, Space Planning, EH&S, and Procurement.
Provide oversight of vendor managed inventory to Pharmaceutical Science department.
Manage equipment inventory and services including calibration, maintenance, service contract renewal, software/hardware upgrades, decommissioning, and moves for existing equipment.
Lead inventory management programs. Provide system administrative support for sample inventory. Ensure inventory management system meets end user requirements.
Lead lab safety programs on behalf of Pharmaceutical Sciences through collaboration with Takeda EHS.
Responsible for independently scheduling and managing end user requests for utility upgrades, modifications, and installations.
Manage laboratory renovation and improvement projects for PharmSci by compiling a business case, coordinating stakeholders, and driving resolution and deliverables.
Manage and Administrate integrated systems and platforms.
Identify opportunities and then establish and lead initiatives to improve processes and improve service level of lab operations within Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Collaborate across lab operations among similar teams at Takeda to identify and improve lab operation processes across Takeda Boston. Manage mid-size projects in this area.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators and matrices to ensure continuous improvement.
Work with end-users and support departments to translate user requirements into equipment support requirements, such as service contract terms, calibration tolerances, and inventory management requirements (e.g., stocking levels, reorder trigger, etc.).
Identify non-value added activities and identify potential solutions to improve process performance or overall compliance. Lead users on improved processes or systems.
14+ years in operational and project management, and relevant industry experience in Chemistry, Instrumentation, Facilities, Engineering, Business Operations or related Pharmaceutical Science, or
Associates degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering business operations or related pharmaceutical science and 7+ years relevant industry experience
Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering business operations or related pharmaceutical science; 5+ years relevant industry experience
Masters degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering business operations or related pharmaceutical science; 3+ years relevant industry experience, Appropriate laboratory training
Lab operations experience including support of a team’s facility, EH&S, equipment, and stocking needs.
Experience in a development lab setting preferred.
Familiarity with laboratory, analytical instrumentation, and software applications.
Document issues and concerns with colleagues; escalates issues to upper and direct management.
Manage projects independently, and project teams.
Develop self, and manage critical operational issues as they arise.
Project Management: Able to initiate, manage, plan, execute, control, and close concurrent validation projects within given timelines.
Requires in-depth interactions with scientists and quality specialists from multiple departments and external vendors.
Working knowledge of financial systems SAP and Ariba preferred.
Familiarity with the administration of environmental chamber response systems, chemical tracking system, and sample management and inventory system preferred.
Some travel between Takeda sites and facilities.
Should possess a valid driver’s license.
Available to support critical activities and operations during off-hours and weekends on an infrequent basis.
