Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:

• Ensure global importations and exportations are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulatory requirements of global customs and other applicable governmental agencies.
• The position emphasizes on developing opportunities for process improvements while working with colleagues at all global locations on import/export compliance activities and recommending/implementing solutions leading to such improvements.
• The position also emphasizes on the processing of daily shipping and distribution activities in collaboration with Takeda teams and 3rd party vendors to ensure compliance with all applicable import and export laws, statutes and regulations and product quality specifications.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Process daily import and export transactions ensuring compliance to all US Government Laws and Regulations. This includes US Customs and Border Protection(Customs), USDA, FDA, Fish Wildlife, CDC, Bureau of Industry and Security, DEA and possible other government agencies. This includes generating shipping documentation, working closely with the requester on the details of transactions.

• Adhere to country specific standard operating procedures for importing/exporting clinical trial material and raw materials, including logistics, customs clearance and delivery cycle times.

• Liaise with in-country coordinators/CRO’s to establish standard import and export requirements for clinical trials, including export license determination.

• Help to maintain and verify that all trade datain product database including: Country of Origin, Harmonized Tariff Codes, Export Commerce Control Number (ECCN), PGA Licenses & Permits, FDA product codes, IND’s for raw materials, chemical intermediates, and finished goods are the ones determined and established by the Trade Compliance group.

• Instruct customs brokers and freight forwarders on the clearance of import/export transaction. Conduct post-entry review ensuring transactions comply with US import regulations

• Assist in the creation and adherence of export and import compliance policies and procedures for the organization regarding Clinical Trial Material (CTM) and raw material shipments.

• Identify key opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to eliminate identified compliance deficiencies.

• Assist in special logistics projects or department initiatives related to import/export and/or global trade compliance activities, including trusted trader programs ( supply chain security) such as C-TPAT, ISA, and other related projects.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science or Law or equivalent experience in lieu of formal bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in material management/supplies/logistics, including 1 experience in Pharmaceuticals, Medical Device & Clinical Supplies

Preferred:

• Basic Logistics Cold Chain experience
• Valid Customs Broker License and other certifications, when regionally possible.
• Familiarity with trusted trader programs including Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and Importer Self-Assessment (ISA).

Base Salary Range: $63,700 to $91,000. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
