The HR Director will be responsible for strategically planning HR initiatives and managing day-to-day HR operations for 800+ employees across the United States and Canada and will have a dotted line responsibility to VP HR Consumer Division. Current plant locations include Winston-Salem, Ada, Blauvelt, Triadelphia, Schaumburg, Clinton and MMC in Canada. The HR Director will make recommendations and implement proactive, data-driven HR solutions that enables the business to achieve its goals through people. This position will educate, motivate and influence the organization to help achieve business goals through the effective management of human capital.
Please note that this will be a remote a job and will require up to 25% travel. Eastern Time zone is strongly preferred as this will cover plants in the following locations:
Winston-Salem, NC
Triadelphia, WV
Blauvelt, NY
Schaumburg, IL
Clinton, IL
Laval, Quebec City, Canada
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategic HRBP: Partners with Global Leadership Team (GLT) direct reports in decision making by demonstrating an understanding of business strategy/performance and its people implications; coaches leaders on culture, values, leadership behaviors, team building, change management and talent and serves as HR business partner on a wide range of people related topics.
• Culture Champion: Serve as a leader that helps to build a culture of safety, respect, DEI, collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability, reward/recognition/celebration, and high performance.
• Talent Management: Lead HR processes to attract, select, onboard, engage, grow and reward diverse talent for the business. Manage and coordinate workforce planning, recruitment, talent assessment/development/deployment, succession and compensation planning. Assist with leadership development programs, to include the development of all high potential employees.
• Organizational Development: Lead/Assist with organizational design and change management efforts to align strategy, structure, process, people, and rewards.
• Performance Management: Lead the annual performance appraisal process. Develop and implement appropriate compensation and rewards programs to help build and drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance.
• Trusted Advisor: Provides guidance to leaders in interpretation of labor laws and company policies, procedures and programs. Identifies and executes proper solutions for complex employee relations, policy, compliance and legal issues. Manages investigations and collaborates with an employment attorney when necessary in order to provide guidance to plant HR teams and line managers.
• People Leader: Coaches/mentors and develops Plant HR teams. In collaboration with the line managers, responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; resolving ER issues.
• Program Management: Leads and oversees program and policy development and implementation, working together with corporate COE s and HR teams across plants in all HR functional areas to drive people outcomes, including but not limited to leadership development, talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, salary administration, workers compensation, LOA, safety, performance and talent management, recognition, engagement, retention and training and development.
• Drive Excellence: Provides focus, accountability and drives ownership for KPIs; maintains and monitors key metrics for their assigned organization. Oversees the communication, coordination and execution of people strategies, initiatives and change management. Leads, plans, and manages process improvement for maximum effectiveness and internal customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 10-12 years in progressively more responsible HR roles, with a significant portion of that in a manufacturing environment.
• BS in Business, Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field or equivalent education/experience. MS or MBA are highly desirable.
• Solid experience with various talent management concepts and practices is required.
• Strong business acumen. Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, effectively connecting appropriate HR plans/ideas with business needs.
• Prior experience building and scaling growing operations.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire confidence and trust.
• Team player that is committed to a collaborative environment, leading by example with a hands on approach to get things done. Strong relationship building skills. Ability to manage, coach, partner with and/or influence others at all levels in the organization.
• Proven ability to manage projects and deploy/lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong decision-making skills, sound judgment, and the ability to think quickly and create/adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
• Ability to understand and use an HRIS system – technologically savvy, to include proficiency with MS Excel. Demonstrated ability to effectively gather, synthesize, analyze and confidently package/present information to others for purposes of influence and decision making.
• Must be an effective communicator and influencer, both verbally and in writing to include emails and presentations.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
