The Burkard School Hiring for Upper Elementary Teacher Job at San Mateo, CA Full Time

This position is for the fall 2022-23 school year.

Background in Special Education (Mild/Mod) is Highly Preferred.

Experience with students with behavioral challenges and a passion for working with neurodiverse students is necessary.

The Educator’s role is to plan, organize, and implement an invigorating instructional program that guides and encourages students to fulfill their academic potential. The Educator will work in tandem with the Classroom Behavioral Specialist and will be responsible for developing the academic curriculum, delivering classroom instruction, and working closely with the administration, staff, specialists, and the students’ families to enable the optimal development of each student.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Common Core aligned daily lesson plans in ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Social-Emotional Learning that maximize learning potential for a diverse group of students.

• Provide instruction utilizing a multi-modal approach.

• Prepare students adequately for all required assessments.

• Foster an inviting, exciting, innovative educational environment favorable to learning and personal growth.

• Engage in long- and short-term planning addressing the individual needs of students.

• Work with the classroom behaviorist to maintain classroom management procedures and foster social-emotional learning.

• Liaison with parents, staff, specialists, and administration.

• Incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff and behavioral specialists.

• Maintain and enrich your expertise in the subject areas you will teach.

• Maintain a high level of organization and preparation for the classroom as well as for meetings, presentations, and events.

• Evaluate students’ progress and prepare at least quarterly individual student achievement reports for parents and administration.

• Represent the school at community events.

• Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal.

• An ability and desire to work with children who need additional support with self-regulation, executive functioning, and/or social-emotional learning.

• Experience with adverse classroom behaviors.

• An ability to utilize varied teaching methodologies to accommodate students’ unique learning styles.

• An ability to adapt to students’ specific needs.

• An ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administrators.

• An ability to work effectively as a team member.

• An ability to adapt to changes in characteristics of students, programs, leadership, staff, and community.

• An ability to evaluate tests and measures of achievement.

• An ability to incorporate and implement behavior plans within the classroom.

• Expertise in the subjects you will teach.

• An ability to speak publicly in an effective manner in order to represent the school at community events.

Qualifications:

• Teaching Credential or Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field

• 1+ years Background in similar grade range

Compensation:

• $65,000 – $100,000, based on experience, credential, and/or degree.
