SUMMARY: Performs a variety of clerical duties involved in maintaining patient medical records to include filing, retrieving and distributing medical records, reporting and maintaining associated logs and records in accordance with established priorities and procedures in any section of the Medical Record Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned according to business necessities.

• Verify patient demographics on test requisition form (TRF) and test results.
• Match test results with TRF, and move test results to completed file, and sort results by physician preferences.
• Send out test results (mail, fax, email, internet, etc.). All results reported to physicians and patients within 24-48 hours guideline.
• File TRFs in file cabinet.
• Enter patient and test information into specimen log accurately and timely.
• Scan TRF documents into database.
• Perform daily tasks, respond to emails, and resolve/investigate issues, as assigned by Medical Records Lead.
• Meet daily and monthly goals, which are subject to change.
• Manage time appropriately.
• Must be able to interact with other company departments, such as billing, international sales, domestic sales, and customer service relations.
• Comfortable with company changes in policies and procedures.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Detail oriented, highly motivated, well-organized and problem solving skills are prime skills necessary for successful achievement in this position. Accuracy and speed are needed. 5% or fewer mistakes and 45 WPM (9500 KPH).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of clerical experience and high school. Associate’s degree (A.A.) in Business a plus. Prefer courses in data entry, laboratory procedures and client care.
