IT Telecom Field Service Technician Job Description:
The IT Telecom Unified Communications Team provides core enterprise-wide Telecom services. It is responsible for the planning, installation and the management of the Hospital’s enterprise-wide Unified Communication Services. These services comprised of a complex IT Telecom infrastructure consisting of cable plants, network closets, routers, switches, wireless controllers, security components, telephony equipment and end-user applications, and end-user appliances.
Under general supervision of IT Unified Communications Manager, the IT Telecom Field Service Technician is responsible for day-to-day management of voice services, applications end devices and infrastructure within the OSI model.
This position interacts with physicians, nurses, and a broad array of others including administrative personnel, other IT Telecom groups, external departments, vendors, and consultants requiring both sound technical and outstanding customer service skills (highly professional, courteous, and patient disposition.)
The IT Telecom Unified Communications Field Service Technician ensures the timely completion of appropriate proactive maintenance activities and reactive incident resolution processes necessary to maintain the end user IT Telecom device environment. This includes corrective action in the resolution of incidents and escalation/notification processes as appropriate.
IT Telecom Field Service Technician Essential Functions:
Troubleshoots and supports all aspects of IT Telecom field services at BCH Oakland during assigned shift, including work assignment, scheduled maintenance, proactive incident management, problem management, change management and service requests with minimal supervision for all devices supported.
Escalate and communicate problems and status updates to management.
Proper use of the prevalent IT Telecom Service Management toolset (e.g. ServiceNow) as defined by the management team to manage work queues, assess and prioritize tickets and tasks, and/or handoff to the next shift or for escalation.
Provide technical consultation and guidance to other team members. Work directly with the client in offering support and/or training on various BCH Oakland end user devices. Exercise sound judgment and prioritization and reorganization of customer requests. Develop, support and maintain systems documentation and procedures as needed, provide training to other IT Telecom staff and customers as appropriate and facilitating presentations to IT Telecom senior management.
Analyze customer requirements and configuration; assist in planning and implementing requested changes, including researching and procuring viable solutions when appropriate. May have incidental access to confidential information. As such, employee is expected to adhere and abide to BCH Oakland confidentiality agreements, policies and procedures.
