Purpose and Scope:

Maintains, designs, commissions and troubleshoots PLC programs, HMI’s and automation equipment. Leads effort to maintain current equipment as we transition from a manual/semi-automated processes to automated processes and smart factory manufacturing. Works with Tru Vue project teams, engineering resources, project consultants, and contractors to manage projects and build new automated solutions. Responsible for the Servo Drives, VFDs, PLCs, motion controls, ABB, Fanuc and Kuka robotics, and basic electrical. Safely performs all job functions and utilizes proactive safety concepts, while contributing to a continuous improvement environment. Participates in safety trainings and meetings, and encouraged to engage in other safety-related functions such as 1

responders, training presenters, safety committee, etc.

Expected Outcomes/Job Functions:

1. Create and maintain PLC programs, HMI programs, and related control system software, including, but not limited to:
2. Startup, testing, and field modifications to programs.
3. Problem solves to resolve issues and programming errors.
4. Plan, develop, and coordinate automation tasks on projects with complex automation features.
5. Coordinates and/or supports multiple projects and/or tasks and ensures timely deliverables to meet project deadlines.
6. Independently develops solutions for automation engineering projects.
7. Communicates project status, changes, and other information to managers, engineers, and technicians
8. Set up preventive maintenance for equipment.
9. Manages projects, as directed.
10. Recommend and assist in developing specifications for necessary equipment/systems.
11. Lead and support installation of equipment/systems.
12. Maintain current knowledge of control systems, both technical and market based.
13. Document work processes, design specifications, and process changes by updating existing documentation and communicating changes to team through coaching, training, and other knowledge-sharing opportunities.
14. Manages variation, promote efficiencies, and improve continuous improvement efforts throughout areas of control utilizing 6S and Lean manufacturing processes and tools.
15. Assist Engineering Manager and Process Engineers in monitoring, collecting info and data, etc. for environmental and compliance reporting.
16. Occasional travel required. May be required to work outside regular hours as needed.

Education and Experience: (minimum requirements):

1. 2-year Technical degree in Engineering or Electronics, or certificate in related field, and 2-4 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Technical knowledge and hands-on experience to operate and troubleshoot in the following areas:
3. Programming control logic for Allen-Bradley and similar PLCs.
4. Knowledge of Servo and Variable Frequency Drives.
5. Wonderware, Panel-view or similar HMI software.
6. Experience programming robots.
7. Familiarity with networking.
8. Assimilating new or upgraded technology as appropriate to the business.
9. Preferred but not required:
10. Siemens PLC knowledge.
11. Knowledge of ABB, Kuka, or Fanuc.
12. Visual Basic Programming language. Developing in Visual Basic 6.0 and SQL Server beneficial.
13. Microsoft Project and Access experience beneficial.
14. Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma concepts and Six Sigma formal training strongly preferred.
15. Working knowledge of instruments, tools, process control equipment, and processes. Ability to analyze equipment, tools, and resources.
16. Basic project planning and project management skills.
