The member donor base includes General Membership ($75-$500), Fowler Fellows ($1,500-$5,000), and two thriving council support groups: The Fowler Textile Council and Fowler Contemporary Council. The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for stewarding and growing the member donor base, assuring high renewal rates by cultivating and soliciting current and prospective new members, including special campaigns to attract UCLA alumni and students. Working closely with the Director of Development, the Assistant Director will co-plan and co-host monthly high-level member stewardship events, which includes artist studio visits, curator-led exhibition tours, scholarly lectures, opening exhibition VIP receptions, and off-site art events. Administrative tasks, such as gift processing, mass mailings, event coordination, and database management are required. In addition, this position is responsible for creating annual fund appeal letters and promotions throughout the year.
This is a perfect opportunity for an energetic candidate with proven experience to conceive and implement creative membership marketing and promotional strategies; create strategic timelines for implementation; build relationships and interface with the public; tailor messaging to different groups; set goals and track metrics; and handle extensive communication flow with leadership staff, members, donors, and external partners. Excellent writing skills, multi-tasking, and attention to detail is required.
The Fowler Museum is an enriching, supportive environment that provides numerous opportunities for professional development with a dotted line to a large number of resources for growth across the UCLA campus. The Fowler takes enormous pride in its small but mighty staff and the ambitious, scholarly work we accomplish each year. As we head into our 60th year with a new director at the helm, this is a terrific opportunity to be a part of a particularly momentous time at the Fowler.
