Required/Preferred
1.A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.

2. Advanced knowledge of University of California’s policies and procedures, particularly in the areas of staff personnel, payroll, and benefits administration.

3. 10-12 years of relevant Human Resources knowledge and experience in a university or higher education setting.

4. Advanced knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and of PPSM policies and procedures in order to interpret and apply policy.

5. Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite software, including knowledge of equipment and software. Demonstrated knowledge of data input, how programs work, use of technology to analyze information, and ability to evaluate effectiveness of HRIS programs.

6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using UCLA proprietary programs such as: UC Path, Timesheet Reporting System (TRS), Online Financial System Reports (OFSR), COGNOS/Query Data Base (QDB) and the web-based People Admin System.

7. Skill in selecting and employing leadership and communication styles, both orally and in writing which are appropriate to the people involved, the situation, and intended results.

8. Skill in speaking clearly and effectively using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information to individuals and groups at various organizational levels.

9. Skill in strategic planning to identify short/long range goals and objectives.

10. Advanced skill in writing and editing grammatically correct and logically organized documents such as memos, correspondence, and job descriptions.

11. Working knowledge of the University benefits programs and procedures including group insurance regulations and various University sponsored benefits plans in order to oversee staff personnel benefits counseling.

12. Demonstrated excellent mathematical skills to calculate salaries, payroll documents, leave accruals, and changes when necessary.
