We are a national company with 7 plant locations seeking a Human Resource Generalist & Safety Representative for our Malvern, PA location which has about 100 total employees. This position will report to the East Coast Human Resource Manager.
HR Generalist Summary:
This position delivers, maintains, enforces, and executes the HR and Safety policies and procedures as developed by Universal’s corporate leadership team with feedback and insights from the HR Generalist & Safety Representative. This role has a strong working relationship with the Plant Manager at the location. The HR Generalist & Safety Representative will offer proactive leadership on human resource initiatives via business processes like information technology, finance, procurements, and legalities.

HR Generalist Schedule:
On-site, no remote work
M-F, 7am to 4pm
Will need to come in at 6am about 1-2 times per week as needed
HR Generalist Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding – 50%
Developments and implements creative solutions to attract and recruit candidates.
Assist the Recruiter with full life cycle recruiting (conducting job intake interviews with hiring managers, creating and posting job descriptions, screening and interviewing candidates, pre-employment testing, onboarding, paperwork, I9 verification, creation in HRIS, creation of badges, etc.)
Conduct new employee orientation classes.
HR Operations – 30%
Assist the management team in ensuring appropriate staffing levels every day in adherence to the production schedule. Work with our temp agencies to fill gaps in needs.
Manage employee relations and conduct formal investigations when needed.
Maintain accurate data in the HRIS system and employee personnel files.
Assist supervisors in the creation and delivery of disciplinary actions as needed.
Assist eligible employees every month in benefit enrollment.
Review timecards weekly to ensure compliance with policies and provide feedback/corrections to the management team.
Process employee terminations and complete the offboarding process.
Act as a consultant to the management staff.
Participate in company-level HR projects as time allows.
Safety – 20%
Act as the chairperson of the Safety Committee.
Assistant management in near miss and incident reporting and investigation.
File workers comp claims and maintain the OSHA log.
Implement and drive safety initiatives and projects.
HR Generalist Skills, Attributes and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business.
Minimum of 3 years human resource experience required.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 365 (Outlook, Work, PowerPoint and Excel).
Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects, use time management skills and independent judgment.
Awareness of federal, state, and local laws and regulations that impact human resources and the employment relationship.
Leadership – the ability to command and maintain attention of those you are overseeing
Effective communication – the ability to convincingly convey instructions, directions, and details to others
Experience – knowledge of OSHA and other governmental regulations; incident and accident prevention
