Summary of Job Duties: This position is responsible for day-to-day sample collection and routine maintenance of edge-of-field water monitoring equipment for the Arkansas Discovery Farms program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to frequent driving (truck is provided) from State Extension Headquarters in Little Rock to research locations throughout the Arkansas Delta, collecting, processing, and shipping water samples, maintaining sample collection logs, and performing laboratory operations consistent with collecting waters samples, i.e. washing labware/sample bottles, acid treating samples, etc., operating farm machinery and equipment for the purposes of installing and/or maintaining sampling equipment.
Other duties will or could include irrigation design and implementation, heavy equipment operation, low voltage electrical/solar wiring, occasional trips to Fayetteville, AR, occasional overnight stays. Assist in station equipment maintenance and upkeep. Assist in general station maintenance and laboratory upkeep. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
BS in Agriculture, Agricultural Technology, Environmental Science
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Agriculture, Agricultural Technology, Environmental Science.
Related field or equivalent experience in row crop agriculture and/or environmental science.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of general farm operations and procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to observe equipment and recognize potential problems, on the job training specific to the research will be provided. Ability to drive a pickup truck, back a trailer, and drive an ATV. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to use a smartphone (provided) and laptop (provided) to communicate with and retrieve data from research equipment. Ability to learn new software relevant to the research.

Driving automobile and/or ATV, Seeing/Reading small print LCD screens, Writing (sample logs, field notes), Kneeling, Lifting, Reaching, Repetitive Motion, Standing, Walking, Outdoors, Wet Muddy Slick walking conditions (rubber boots and waders are provided) other physical activities common to farm/construction.
