YC offices are located on campus in Young Hall and Social Sciences and Humanities and off campus in two buildings in Cousteau Court.
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Department Chairs, and Program Directors, provide leadership and analytical support for the Academic/Staff Personnel Unit and the Graduate Studies Unit in a large and diverse administrative cluster.
Responsible for managing all aspects of the Academic/Staff Personnel and Graduate Studies units. Leads and supervises academic personnel and graduate studies staff and is responsible for the yearly teaching call. Serves as personnel area expert for the departments supported by the Yellow Cluster (Center for Mind and Brain, Philosophy, Psychology, Science & Technology Studies and Center for Science & Innovation Studies.)
Responsible for management of all personnel policy and practice. Determines eligibility of all academic titles. Manages, assigns, and analyzes review of all academic actions including recruitments, appointments, merits, promotions, appraisals, leaves, changes in status, salary adjustments, and appeals for merits, promotions, and appraisals. Provides policy interpretation and recommends solutions in resolving sensitive personnel issues. Responsible for personnel, payroll, and visa actions. Serves as final review on all actions prior to escalating to Dean’s office.
Leads and manages the graduate team, prepares supplemental teaching budgets, and manages the IPA system for the cluster. Supervises staff in the Academic/Staff Personnel and Graduate
Program units; recruits, interviews, selects, trains, and evaluates performance. Serves as Backup to the CAO in areas of Academic Personnel, Staff Personnel, and Graduate Studies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
Experience managing HR talent and projects, including planning and coordinating assignments, performing multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
Experience with financial administration, budget management, and developing and forecasting budgets.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
Leadership, management, communication, and team building skills.
Knowledge of and experience applying complex policy documents, labor agreements, government employment requirements and regulations (e.g. Worker’s Comp, ADA, FMLA, Affirmative Action), and related material.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify/anticipate problems; to analyze data/information; to recommend and develop action plans; and to implement recommendations.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
Experience creating and maintaining financial spreadsheets and reports.
Experience working with sensitive information and documents.
Experience in academic and staff personnel administration in a higher education institution.
