Job Description Summary:
The HR Manager will oversee collaboration amongst the HR Business Partners that allow optimal business solutions and responsive performance for the organization. Oversee daily operations that deliver continuity. Plan, initiate and execute projects that ensure alignment with departmental and organizational goals. Ensure compliance with organizational policy and all federal, state and governmental bodies. Maintain productive relationships with leaders of other units necessary to successfully perform the functions of the directed unit.

Principle Accountabilities
Provide leadership and direction for activities for HR Business Partners on a daily basis, in key areas including employee relations, recruitment/on-boarding, off-boarding, disciplinary action, investigations and labor relations.
Collaborate with other HR Specialist’s within Learning & Development, Recruitment, Benefits and Compensation on matters related to identifying best practice and administration of programs and processes that benefit the organization.
Interpret and administer HR policies, practices and procedures in a manner which best represents KU Medical Center and results in fair and consistent treatment of employees, in compliance with university, Kansas Board of Regents policies, and other applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Work collaboratively with HR Director of Operations to identify alternative solutions and engage in proactive problem solving when employee issues arise. Provide customers with programs and services that are timely, responsive and delivered with a high degree of satisfaction.
Continually find ways to improve processes that maximize efficiency and accuracy.
Support HR Business Partners and other team members as they provide counsel and advice to management and administrators on a broad range of human resources issues including requests for corrective action, hiring and employee relations issues.
Supervise, mentor, develop and delegate responsibility to subordinates that allows the accomplishment of department and university objectives.
Collaborate with Learning & Development team to identify training opportunities and solutions.
Effectively communicate with HR Business Partners regarding new policy, processes and procedures across all KU Medical Center campuses.
Represent and serve on committees as needed.
Perform other duties as may be assigned in support of the organization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Personnel Management, Organizational Development or related field.
Extensive knowledge and application of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and policy
Higher education or governmental experience
Relevant professional certification (PHR, SPHR GPHR, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
7-10 years progressive responsibility in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field
Experience managing a professional unit
Relevant professional certification
