This is an exceptional
opportunity for a dynamic Chair to step into a successful department of enthusiastic and collegial faculty and staff and shape the future
for these programs. Housed within the School of Social Sciences, the Department of Business offers an ideal opportunity for the new Chair to
innovate and grow programs, pedagogy, and experiential learning opportunities through external engagement while encouraging faculty to
pursue growth in teaching and research. The University and the Department of Business pride themselves on small class sizes and high levels
of accessibility and engagement with students.
UNC Asheville is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC), a
consortium of 30 public liberal arts colleges and universities. The University is primarily a teaching institution, and while scholarship is
expected, it is not the focus of the person in this role.
The position is a 10-month, tenure-track appointment at the Professor or
Associate Professor rank. This position includes some teaching responsibilities with release time for the position of Department
Chair.

The
Asheville, NC metro area covers four Western Carolina counties and is a destination for outdoor activities, including the Appalachian Trail,
scenic biking along the Blue Ridge parkway, and hiking the mountainous terrains with picturesque waterfalls. Asheville is a short one-hour
drive from Greenville, SC, two hours from Charlotte, NC and just 30 miles southeast of the Tennessee border, near Great Smoky Mountains
National Park.
