Job Discription
Executive serves to develop and engage key strategic and tactical initiatives with clinical and operational leaders across Keck Medical Center. Is responsible to develop, implement, and embed a culture of improvement across all medical center operations. In addition to stewardship and managing the Keck Operating System deployment and sustainability, the chief will also lead the development of capability-building and problem-solving programs engaging both physicians and staff on performance improvement journey.
Chief will seek to align and engage key strategic and tactical initiatives in conjunction with clinical and operational leaders across our medical center, with an eye on performance improvement and transformative change. These growth initiatives will be coordinated across multiple disciplines and aligned with the operational strategy of the medical center, with input from hospital specific leadership and aligned with the strategic vision of our health system.
Chief will participate at system level for related activities and to goal alignment.
Chief will also partner with our clinical operations, senior medical director, hospital capacity and throughput medical directors, as well as key administrative partners for patient experience (a shared reporting department with USC Care) to affect organizational approaches to transformation and performance improvement.

These areas of focus, and the teams they support, will also leverage operational intelligence data and dashboard performance management tools to further refine our systems and operational strategies. We see the formation of this office as an important evolution for our organization, and one that will further enable us to serve those in need.
Minimum Education:
*Master’s degree or equivalent in health care administration, or industrial engineering strongly preferred.
*Bachelor’s degree required.
*15 years of experience in the health care industry and/or integrated delivery systems with a background in operations, performance improvement, and consulting.
*Black Belt Lean Six Sigma preferred.
Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including but not limited to:
*Developing dynamic, constructive working relationships and partnerships with operational and physician partners.
*Excellent interpersonal skills (negotiation, listening and communication skills) characterized by effective interactions with a diverse range of internal and external constituents, stakeholders, and audiences.
*Demonstrated political savviness – Ability to operate in politically complex situations and remain effective; must have personal influence and credibility to be able to work from behind the scenes in the organization
*Relationship driven, consultative, a team player, able to effectively lead process improvement initiatives.
Required License/Certification:
*Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 90 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $246,471.00 – $406,678.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
