UrbanFootprint is ‘Google Maps for the Modern Enterprise.’ We organize, normalize, and align thousands of urban, climate, and community metrics across 120 million US land parcels. The platform delivers targeted insights via dynamic data streams and elegant collaborative web mapping applications. We enable our customers to answer complex questions in minutes versus weeks, months, or years. Our customers include some of the largest energy utilities, major financial institutions, critical government agencies, top urban planning firms, and fast-growing mobility companies.
We’re growing rapidly in a market with a TAM of $22B, and our competition is old-world manual consulting or outdated software tools that come without the data, the models, or the insights.
Our founders, Joe DiStefano and Peter Calthorpe, are urban planning pioneers who have spent decades providing critical urban intelligence to cities and enterprises across the globe. The Role
We recently raised our Series B and plan to grow our distributed team by 2.5x this year.
The Director of People will lead the HR function to ensure we fully engage and retain an incredible employee base. This is critical for achieving our mission and business goals. Reporting to the COO and working closely with the entire leadership team, you’ll be fully empowered to build a world-class People function. As our HR expert, you’ll move fast across executing a breadth of responsibilities that include HR strategy, employee engagement, culture, performance management, onboarding, offboarding, benefits, DEI, compliance, professional development, and more.
What you’ll do
- Set and execute our people and culture strategy with supporting initiatives
- Contribute to building a high performance, inclusive community across teams
- Provide the strategic direction and expertise for all people centric policies and practices relevant to our mission
- Drive employee engagement, retention measurement and improvement
- Lead HR compliance and training initiatives
- Manage HR disciplinary matters, dispute resolution and investigations if needed
- Participate in the development and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies across the company
- Iterate on our total rewards and recognitions strategy to ensure market competitiveness
- Create, implement and lead a performance management program that leads to a culture of high performance
- Drive organizational structure discussions, development and implementation
- Organize and execute on company events and get togethers (2x / year)
- Lead the leveling framework discussions and implementation
- Lead the onboarding program implementation
- Manage H1B, green card, and other immigration work
Your background likely includes:
- HR leadership in a fast-moving startup environment; proactive problem solver, roll-up-one’s-sleeves attitude with a strong work ethic and steadfast integrity
- Organization design and development experience, including strong change management, for a complex and transforming business organization
- Comfort using facts and data (qualitative and quantitative) to build people-centric business cases
- Creativity, passion, and strong critical thinking skills with a willingness to take reasonable risk and challenge the status quo
- Exceptional project and process management skills with a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic business environment
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in human resources, business, or related field
- 8+ years of HR experience
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
