Position Description
A Democrat Congressman from Illinois seeks a full-time Legislative Assistant to support his work as a member of the House Financial Services Committee.
The responsibilities of this position include drafting and analyzing legislation; building and managing stakeholder coalitions; conducting research; drafting policy memos, talking points, and remarks; meeting with constituents; and staffing events and hearings. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, an interest in learning and working creatively, excellent research skills, and a desire to work collaboratively on a team.
This is not an entry-level position; a strong background in financial services policy and knowledge of Congress is required. The salary for this position is $65,000. The position includes health insurance; retirement benefits with an employer match; paid sick, bereavement, and vacation leave; 16 weeks of paid parental leave; 12 weeks of paid FMLA leave; transit or parking benefits; access to life insurance coverage; and access to the Student Loan Repayment Program.

Compensation
Salary is $65,000 annually. Employment benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), student loan repayment, retirement plans, and other benefits in addition to paid time off, sick leave, and federal holidays.
