The Human Resource Manager will join Volunteers of America at an incredibly exciting time. With one eye on the
past, we are taking aggressive strides forward. As we position VOASELA for continued success, we seek a Human
Resources Director to create and deliver transformational, strategic direction to align our employees with our
mission, vision, and core values, and cultivate an environment of accountability, collaboration, service, and
engagement.
The HR Manager will serve as a strategic partner working alongside the HR Director in developing and delivering
effective HR programs and solutions that enrich the organization s value to employees and other stakeholders. The
HR Manager will also assist in the administration of the Agency s HR programs, oversee the auditing and
improvement of HR processes and programs, as well as supervise HR Generalist(s).

HR programs to achieve business goals.

Core Responsibilities:
Lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department; oversee team of Generalists.
Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizations human resource and talent
strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession
planning.
Collaborate with HR specialists to develop, improve, implement, and monitor HR programs.
Prepare HR dashboard, reports, and other correspondence for internal and external use
Reviews position descriptions as needed, ensuring accuracy of duty description and qualifications as
well as FLSA classification. Assists in the development of position descriptions for new roles and
manages annual process to review and update job descriptions.
Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best
practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Assist with annual HR calendar planning and audits of files, job descriptions, departmental operations
processes, and employee handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor s degree preferably specializing in human resource management, human resource development, or
business discipline
7 years of progressively responsible experience in HR, preferably in non-profit or human services
environment
Develop HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing agency
requirements.
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and human resources best practices.
Lead annual HR calendar and event planning, handbook and policy review, and job description audits.
Strong knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technology systems as needed.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive
matters.
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
Ability to work flexible hours and travel is required.
