Job Description

The responsibilities of this role is supporting the organization’s COVID-19 response by ensuring community response needs are completed in a timely manner. The Community Health Worker will also help provide support to our Wabanaki Care Line. This position is a time-limited, full time, 30 hours per week.
Duties and responsibilities
COVID Response Activities

• Organize and carry out social media campaigns to promote social distancing and advocate for timely policies.
• Encourage strategies with the community and online to promote mental and physical health and resilience.
• Deliver food and medications to the elders, youth, and other community citizens
• Call people with COVID-19 who are in self-isolation with mild symptoms and monitor them for worsening symptoms.
• Provide moral support and organize food deliveries for people with COVID-19 at home.

Mental Health Support

• Staff the Wabanaki Care Line to help support community members in crisis; provide support to respond to crisis within the community
• Assist with organizational efforts, such as the colored paper project, to ensure connection and response during pandemic

Other Duties as Assigned

• Complete other duties and tasks that support the organization, as necessary

Qualifications

• Experience working in Tribal Communities
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
• A strong work ethic and enthusiasm
• Willingness to travel; a good driving record and access to reliable transportation are required
• All candidates must pass a criminal background check
• Ability to work independently
• Strong motivation to serve underserved communities
• Excellent problem solving and organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities
