2. Provide growth of the student staff through a proactive and engaging residence life training and curriculum to
help with staff retention as well as overall growth and enhancement of the residence life experience.
3. Train, hire, mentor and
supervise Assistant Directors of Residence Life (live in).
4. Advise Residence Hall Association, NRHH and oversee the
efficiency and effectiveness of a campus wide hall government.
5. Supervise, track, organize, and develop residential
curriculum/programming model across campus focused on student development.
a. Develop a comprehensive residential programming model
which Resident Assistants (RA’s) throughout campus provide programming to the students in the residence halls that not only offers
social opportunities, but opportunities for growth and learning outside of the classroom.
b. Stay informed with current trends in
residence life and work to develop a comprehensive programming model that meets the specific needs of the Wayne State campus in conjunction
with the overall mission and goals of Residence Life at Wayne State College.
6. Facilitate living learning communities and
special interest housing on campus.
a. Design, manage, and supervise the operation of Living Learning Communities (LLC’s)along
with their program advisor or faculty member through frequent interaction and oversight. Foster growth, development, and identify needs for
housing on campus.
b. Advise and collaborate to provide living learning communities with solid curriculum, strong support for advisors,
as well as substantial assistance in recruiting and maintaining members.
7. Oversee the hiring process for the Resident Assistant
(RA) positions, the Community Coordinator (CC) positions, and the Desk Attendant (DA) positions and work with the supervisory staff to make
sure students hired in these positions are fulfilling their job duties and expectations.
8. Supervise, organize, and develop a
staff training model.
a. Facilitate comprehensive training for all of the student staff inclusive of fall and winter training, monthly
in-services, and creating initiatives that respond to the needs of staff development.
9. Coordinate campus safety initiatives,
handles student crises in collaboration with Assistant Directors of Residence Life.
a. Make appropriate referrals to campus
resources.
b. Provide on-call coverage and emergency response availability on a rotational basis with the Assistant Directors.
10. Serve as a judicial officer handling student conduct matters and assist with case management record-keeping for the department.
a. Evaluate and recommend to the Dean of Students, educational opportunities/learning outcomes for student development within the student
code of conduct process.
11. Responsible for the direction, planning, and implementation of the RA Leadership Workshop
Conference.
12. Create and plan with Admissions and student staff to outline, organize, and develop show rooms for campus tours
of perspective students.
13. Collaborate with Associate Director of Housing Operations to promote on-campus living, summer camps,
and conferences and other crossover departmental responsibilities.
14. Brainstorm, develop, and collaborate with the Director of
Residence Life to implement and sustain a strategic marketing plan for the department to promote the on campus housing experience.
