Job Summary:
Executes the implementation of plans and/or programs to ensure the most effective utilization of human resources to support company objectives within the business unit, while staying within the framework of the organization’s overall corporate policies, plans, and programs.
Job Duties:
Supervises administration of human resource policies and practices in the business unit, which is a collection of three plants in Bowling Green and North Central TN
Manages/conducts employee orientation and onboarding processes
Assures implementation/administration of compensation and benefits programs throughout the business unit
Works with the Business Unit General Manager and his team to plan and implement programs to meet human resource requirements supporting short- and long-term business needs.
Participates in collective bargaining negotiations; and, collaborating with the Area HR Manager and the Labor Relations team, administers contract provisions throughout the business unit
Manages workers’ compensation claims through 3rd Party administrator and coordinates challenges to litigated cases as required.
Oversees administration of performance management process (including the annual performance review process) to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the business unit.
Manages all activities related to affirmative action planning and other employee relations programs assigned to the business unit by Corporate HR and/or the Area HR Manager
Recruits, interviews, tests, and facilitates the selection of new employees to fill open positions throughout the business unit.
Performs duties involving employee communications, including execution on ad hoc corporate initiatives, to assure that the business unit is compliant with expectations directed by Corporate or Division HR
Assists employees with routine questions on human resource policies and procedures, and assists them in dealing with potential issues and grievances, etc.
Administers salary administration program, including the annual merit review process, to ensure compliance and equity within the business unit.
Maintains and distributes current employee information, including policies and procedures and other communications materials that are required by Corporate or Division Policy
Documents the issuance of those distributions with accurate recordkeeping to assure that all employees have proper communication and up-to-date knowledge of existing pol
Investigates complaints, grievances, and other employee relations issues as directed by the WestRock Legal Team and collaborates with that team (and local management) on the appropriate resolution of pertinent employee relations issues.
Conducts and summarizes internal and external surveys to gather information for employee engagement activities and planning.
Counsels managers on the handling of people related issues.
Conducts pre-employment screening, responds to routine questions on human resource policies and procedures, and identifies and manages potential issues and grievances.
Develops and modifies training programs, and presents these training programs to employees as required to support the ongoing mission of the business unit
Assists and participates in grievance administration, including arbitrations, and prepares supporting documentation as necessary.
