Under the direction of the assigned administrator or supervisor perform mechanical work in the inspection, test, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the district white fleet vehicles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The following list of duties describes the various types of work that may be performed and the level of technical complexity of the assignment(s), and is not intended to be an all-inclusive list.
• Perform all general repairs, overhaul, and rebuild critical material handling equipment
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions on all material handling equipment
• Clean and wash vehicles, maintain wash area for District vehicles, lubricate, perform minor upholstery and body repairs, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
• Complete all necessary paperwork related to repairs, such as repair requisitions, work orders and safety checklists
• Prepare vehicles for emissions testing
• Inspect, repair and maintain tires in proper operating condition; change and rotate tires as appropriate; adjust and repair vehicle suspension; replace or perform minor repairs on vehicle accessories such as windows, latches, light bulbs and handles
• Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, lifts, jacks, stands, tire machines, testers and meters; operate a computer and assigned software; maintain equipment in proper working condition; operate a vehicle to conduct work
• Remain on-call for emergencies

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or GED and five years industrial white fleet maintenance experience
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver’s License
• Incumbent will be involved in field work which requires travel in personal or District vehicles to various sites
• Candidate must have all basic mechanic tools (specialized tools will be provided)

• Working in a cramped or restrictive work chamber
• Working around and with machinery having moving parts

Positions in this job classification typically work 40 hours/week for 12 months/year.
The duration of the eligibility list is 6 months unless extended by the Executive Director of Classified Human Resources and the Personnel Commission.

Vacation
Following the completion of six (6) months of probationary service, employees will receive credit for five (5) working days of vacation. Every month thereafter, employees will accrue vacation at a rate of 5/6 of a working days. (2 weeks per year).
Annual employees accrue vacation hours to be taken off at a later date.
School year employees earn and are paid out vacation hours.
