Williamson County Hiring for Deputy County Clerk: Criminal Court Clerk at Georgetown, TX Full Time

Reporting directly to a County Clerk Division Supervisor, responsible for performing clerical duties that support the daily operations of the Williamson County Clerk’s Office.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

• Receives inquires via telephone or in person, responding based on knowledge of policies and procedures for processing court documents and orders
• Receives payments and issues receipts; logs payments in appropriate files and places money in cash drawers
• Prepares court costs for defendants indicating amount due to court as fines or fees; calculates monthly payments, and time served to be credited against fines as appropriate
• Prepares dispositions of cases either by final convictions reduced, formal probation, deferred adjudication, deferred prosecution pending, dismissals, probation revocations, and motions to withdraw
• Reviews job queues for signed orders and enters new case events; reviews files and scans new filings if any after court sessions
• Review all documents submitted in an assigned cause of action and makes the appropriate notation regarding that document in the case events
• Issues warrants and orders of arrest; issues subpoenas; receives returned subpoenas and distributes to courts as appropriate
• Update in-house software with payments received and issue receipts
• Sort, reviews for completeness and accuracy, date stamp and code various documents, files, judicial orders, etc., according to established procedures.
• Readily complies with departmental and county-wide policies and procedures.
• Performs related special projects as assigned

Criminal Assignment

• Signs and processes subpoenas
• Issues warrants for criminal offenses
• Performs transactions related to citations, warrants, pleas, booking sheets and time-served requests
• Receives and processes payment of fees/fines, issues receipts and records dispositions
• Manages a cash drawer at high-volume window, balances drawer and prepares deposits
• Recalls warrants and disseminates notifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and lifting/carrying up to 30-40 lbs

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

• Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment

IRREGULAR HOURS

• Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
• May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year of clerical experience including cash handling and customer service
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• Prior experience working in a legal capacity
• Three (3) years of clerical experience including cash handling and customer service
