About the Program:

The WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities helps to transform cities into compact, connected and resilient spaces that provide healthy, accessible and prosperous living environments for their residents. We provide technical and practical expertise through eight integrated solution areas: Integrated Transport Systems, Vision Zero, Zero Carbon Buildings, Livable Neighborhoods, E-Mobility, Water/Heat Resilience, Air Quality, and Inclusive Climate & Energy Action Planning. Data and Urban Finance are cross-cutting themes that inform all our solution offerings. Our research and projects in cities and in national policies connect environmental sustainability, health, safety, equity, and quality of life. The Urban Mobility program, which includes the solution areas of Integrated Transport, Health and Road Safety, and Electric Mobility helps cities shift to more efficient, safer, and cleaner transport modes.

Job Highlight:

In this role, you will work closely with our Urban Mobility team at the Ross Center for Sustainable Cities to provide grants and finance management, and program administration support. You will work on complex, multi-year, multi-faceted international grants – developing and updating budgets, tracking, and monitoring expenditures, preparing financial reports, and working with project managers, partner organizations, and international offices to maintain a healthy financial system.

You will be supported by a team of project managers and finance specialists within the WRI Ross Center. You will work closely with our central finance teams including the cost and pricing team, grants and contracts team, and accounting team.

You will report to the Urban Mobility Program Manager within the Ross Center for Sustainable Cities

What you will do:

Financial Management (30% time)

• Develop fiscal year and funder budget forecasts on a yearly basis in coordination with operations and program directors
• Regularly review, update, and monitor all transactions, commitments, and revenue prospects for team projects to support healthy financial management
• Update and maintain project budgets utilizing WRI’s budgeting and forecasting software (TM1)
• Update and maintain project funding allocations in coordination with program directors and project managers and coordinate with international offices and partners on financial performance

Grant Management (40% time)

• Monitor program/project performance against contract requirements and deliverables and ensure compliance with funder policies
• Support donor and grants management by keeping database software (Salesforce) up to date and support institutional knowledge management for all grants and proposals
• Prepare financial reports and support reporting on grants and other requests from funders including gathering information from international offices as needed

• Prepare grant proposal budgets and assist in the collection and submission of formal proposals for team fundraising efforts

Project Operations (20% time)

• Advise team on budget management, raise and address any financial issues in coordination with managers.
• Manage various program, department, and organizational trackers to provide monthly financial updates for review with program directors and operations staff

• Follow WRI’s internal processes and deadlines related to funding, including quarterly reviews, monthly & annual closeouts, and annual budget planning
• Process documentation for project commitments (i.e., agreements, contracts, work authorizations, and purchase orders)

Administration (10% time)

• Assist with new hire onboarding operations

• Provide timesheet guidance to team members on a bi-weekly basis
• Support teams with financial management for conference and event logistics as needed, including participant travel
• Other duties may be assigned

What you will need:

• 
  Education: You have a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, public policy, political science, non-profit management, international affairs, or similar subject. A master’s degree is preferred.
• 
  Experience: You have a minimum of 3-5 years full-time relevant work experience in financial management, budgeting, administration, nonprofit operations or a related, relevant field.
• You have proven experience organizing and managing detailed and complex budgeting structures, donor reporting and/or grant or financial management
• You have experience with oral and written communication, working with international teams or projects

• You have experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), especially Excel along with writing, database management, and proofreading. Budgeting experience with Excel, or other budgeting software is highly desirable.
• You have experience handling multiple projects with varying deadlines as well as rapidly changing priorities
• You have a keen interest in the mission and work of the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities
• 
  Languages: In addition to proficiency in written and spoken English, additional language skills are a plus
• 
  Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.

Potential Salary: $53,000-$68,000 Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors. WRI offers a competitive remuneration and benefits package.
