HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This work involves responsibility for
providing clerical support to professional staff engaged in human resources. The incumbent serves as the first point of contact for the Human Resources Department. The incumbent prepares and maintains personnel records and is responsible for
providing guidance and assistance. Responsibilities involve conducting new employee
orientation and training, compensation studies, and overseeing the department’s compliance with human resource laws, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Fair
Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision from the Human Resource Director with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment. Does related work as required.

PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an
equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
(a) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by
the Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Secretarial or Accounting; or
(b) Two (2) years of clerical experience which involved the use of a computer; OR
(c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of
(a) and (b).

Pay: $16.48 – $19.71 per hour
