Its portfolio includes two properties on Mission Bay, Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa and Bahia Resort Hotel, as well as the AAA Five Diamond property in the prominent seaside community of La Jolla, The Lodge at Torrey Pines.
The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.
SUMMARY
The Learning and Development Manager (“Gerente de Aprendizaje y Desarrollo”)plans, coordinates, and directs training and staff development programs for the company by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops training programs and materials in response to needs assessment as well as formulates training policies, programs, and schedules, based on knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, business systems, or changes in products, procedures, or services.
Maintains and publishes Annual Training Plan and Monthly Training Schedules.
Conducts on-going training needs assessments.Conducts training programs with line employees, supervisors, managers and executives throughout the company.
Evaluates training programs upon completion and makes adjustment for improvement.
Updates and maintains departmental training manuals.
Oversees maintenance of complete, current file documentation for all training projects.
Monitors all departmental new-hire orientation and conducts regularly scheduled employee and supervisory orientation programs.
Ensures proper documentation of all new-hire training.
Coordinates all food handler’s training and maintain appropriate files.
Assists in handling employee complaints with quick referral to manager or Human Resources Department as necessary.
Maintains a professional working relationship and encourages open lines of communication between management, employees, and other related departments.
Attends hotel staff meetings.
Assists in the development and organization of staff communications programs and promotions.
Coordinates all aspects of employee recognition promotions.
Monitors and tracks expenses in accordance with established budget.
Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements to prepare budgets and justify funds requested.
Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, and computer-based training.
Organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
Trains assigned instructors and supervisory personnel in effective techniques for training, such as new employees’ orientation, on-the-job training, sales techniques, health and safety practices, management development, and adaptations to changes in policies, procedures, and technologies.
Researches and selects outside consultants and trainers to conduct training in specific topics.
Coordinates established training courses with technical and professional courses offered by community schools.
Screens, tests, counsels, and recommends employees for participation in internal or external educational and training programs.
Performs the job duties of other Human Resources staff positions, as needed.
Has knowledge of and assists in emergency procedures as required.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university;and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both written and oral in Spanish.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
