Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is a well-established and progressive defense contracting company in the Northern Virginia area just a few miles south of the Pentagon. SPA is hiring a full-time Human Resources Specialist. Responsibilities include employee action processes, general HR, and Benefits administration as well as corporate initiatives. This role is on-site at SPA HQ in Alexandria, Virginia, with hours of 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM.
Responsibilities:
The HR Specialist will work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment to provide high-quality HR support to our internal and external customers. Must have knowledge of benefit administration and general HR functions, as well as the ability to work under limited supervision.
Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment with the ability to multi-task, a high degree of integrity, an ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgement. Strong communication, time management, analytical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills to compile and analyze data is crucial for success.
Duties include various HR events/initiatives that support the day-to-day employment life cycle from hire to termination, as well as responsible for the benefits administration, and general HR duties to include compliance filing of EEO, AAP, Vets reports to federal agencies. Ensuring that HR procedures and practices comply with federal and state laws. Conducts and coordinate out-processing of terminated employees, as well as ensure termination from various insurance vendors website and systems.
Provide guidance and support on day-to-day general employee relations issues. Conducts new hire orientation, process personnel changes, and responds to employment verifications. Ensure consistent implementation of HR programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Must be proficient in Microsoft and HRIS software programs. Responsible for maintaining accurate records and electronic files. Assist with audits, prepares reports and reconciliation of transactions. Responds to inquiries to effect quick resolution. #IN123
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration (or closely related field) preferred.
• HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred or actively being worked toward.
• Currently working in human resources with a minimum of 2-4 years’ experience within a Professional Services organization in the following HR functional areas: Employment, Benefits, Compliance, Employee Relations and HRIS.
• Experience with benefit administration, onboarding and acting as the first line of contact for employee benefit questions.
• Working knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements as they relate to government contracting.
