Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of professional, direct services, and personnel who provide client care. Primary duties include hiring, assigning, staff development, employee skills validation and evaluations, conducting initial evaluations, supervisory evaluations, and coordinating/implementing the client’s Plan of Care.

• Directly and indirectly through qualified subordinates provide supervision of professional, direct services, and appropriate personnel who provide direct client care.
• Conduct or direct the initial assessment of resident and approve plan of care and service delivery methods
• Perform competency and skills evaluations on employees who provide direct client care
• Identify, plan, and implement staff development for direct care employees such as orientations, in-services, continuing education, and competency/skills evaluations
• Determine and document whether the rehabilitation services are being delivered in an acceptable manner consistent with policies/procedures and customer satisfaction
• Document actions taken when services are unacceptable
• Teach or supervise the teaching of family members/guardians who are responsible for assisting the client with their nursing or personal care needs
• Responsible for medication management, training, and MAR
• Review all documentation of services provided and ensure compliance with company, program, licensing, local, state, or federal regulations
• Inform the physician and all assigned employees of changes in the client’s medical or mental condition and needs
• Participate in all administrative calls, meetings, conferences, and trainings related to patient care, operations management, and compliance
• Provide direct care when necessary/appropriate or in conjunction with management functions
• Must be available to meet a nursing mandate at all times that are necessary
• Continually monitor performance; identify areas of improvement an provide clinical teaching and to reduce risks
• Facilitate communication and serve as a liaison between and among nursing staff, nursing and direct care staff, the work site and community medical providers, professional consultants, and direct care in cooperation with operations management
• Perform all duties inherent in manager role as well as other duties as assigned
