Job Summary
This is an entry-level position great for a recent college graduate! The Accountant is responsible for general accounting duties including processing of A/P invoices for payment, issue invoices to customers, make AR collections, maintain accurate vendor and customer information, process 1099s, reconcile accounts and assist with month-end closings as well as other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties
General and Administrative
· Communicate effectively with Controller and Assistant Controller to guarantee that financial objectives are met.
· Follow systems and procedures outlined in the company manuals.
· Participate as a key team player by supporting operations as needed.
· Clerical duties including, but not limited to, filing (both paper and electronic), scanning and copying.
Accounting
· Manage Accounts Payable in a timely, professional, and discreet manner.
· Prepare sales tax and government reports as needed.
· Manage Accounts Receivable, in a timely, professional, and discreet manner.
· Update and make adjustments for fixed assets and depreciation in all companies.
· Do bank reconciliations for Blake entities as needed.
· Do bank reconciliations for smaller Blake companies as needed.
· Prepare Intercompany adjustments between the operating and land holding companies as needed.
· Prepare 1099s annually.
· Classify and record all company financial transactions in order to accurately determine company income, expense, surplus, and financial condition.
· Prepare monthly trial balances.
· Enter all daily cash receipts.
· Prepare weekly cash flow statement.
· Annual filing of unclaimed property report.
· Payroll knowledge including monthly and quarterly payroll tax return preparation and review.
Education, Skills & Knowledge
· Required: High school diploma or equivalent, with higher education preferred
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s level degree in Accounting
· 0-2 Years of of Accounts Payable and Receivable experience
· Must be a self-starter with minimal supervision and good follow-through
· Ability to do routine business math calculations
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel formulas and tables
· Able to use other Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
· Able to use SAP Software, NetSuite and QuickBooks software applications
· Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing
· Demonstrate and maintain high attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to manage competing demands and deadlines efficiently
· Maintain a neat and professional appearance
· Energetic team player
· Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and integrity a must
