The Utility Customer Care Team consists of office and field staff performing rate revenue billing and collection, simple to complex account maintenance, accounting adjustments, meter maintenance and minor repairs, field inspections, service turn ons/offs, meter reading, and customer service in person, on the phone, and electronically. You will budget, plan, organize, manage, and lead these activities and be responsible for routine to complex financial and administrative work.

What you will do:
You will be responsible for the administration of the City’s utility billing system which includes but is not limited to determining efficient meter reading routes and schedules; ensuring accurate customer account billing processes; interpreting rules and code; assessing penalties; exercising independent judgment; developing and implementing procedures; and adhering to policies, regulations, and best practices while ensuring work quality and accuracy.

Position schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
What are the minimum qualifications?
Must pass the pre-employment background check.
Must have an Oregon Driver license and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem’s driving standards.
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or related field; and (3) years supervisory experience in a related field; one year must have included lead or supervisory responsibilities for other staff or a work unit with in-person and over the phone customer service preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the class.
