Course Waiver you will need to apply for the Law Enforcement Trainee (LET) position. LET applications are accepted on the 1st Monday of every month (excluding December).

Health Insurance – Eligible to receive a City contribution of $656.00 or $1,724.00 to help offset health, dental and vision premiums. Eligible employees who waive all medical, dental, vision, supplemental life, and supplemental AD&D benefits will recieve an annual “Health Insurance Waiver Stipend” of $2,500.00 every first paycheck of December.
The City of San Bernardino offers the following benefits for full-time regular positions: Paid Vacation, Paid Holidays, Sick Leave, Group Health, Dental/Vision and Life Insurance, Deferred Compensation Plan, Medicare/excluding Social Security Coverage, Ride Share Incentives, and California State Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS)*.
*PERS:
New members to CalPERS shall receive 2.5% @ 57 retirement benefit, 3 year final compensation, in accordance with the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act (PEPRA). New members will be obligated to pay 50% of the “normal cost” of their retirement benefits as required by State law.
For current members of CalPERS or a reciprocal agency as of 12/31/12 and have not been separated from service from such agency for six months or more, the retirement benefit shall be 3% @ 55; highest single year of compensation.
Current City of San Bernardino Employees will retain their existing CalPERS retirement benefit formula if they remain within their current CalPERS classification.
