This position is responsible for providing tier 1 and tier 2 support for all Rock County server systems. This includes, but is not limited to, physical servers, virtual servers, virtual desktops, and the components related to maintaining these systems. This position will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Rock County data contained on the systems by implementing, configuring, and testing backups, restorations, and security of the data. This position is focused on implementing Azure and other cloud technologies to ensure Rock County systems are being used properly and to their full potential.
Documentation of Rock County systems and processes will be required of this position. This position will be able to provide technical leadership and guidance to tier 1 whenever applicable.
This position will be responsible for maintaining systems, processes, and security in physical locations as well as cloud locations, including disaster recovery.
This postion will be responsible for organization-wide print management.
A Systems Administrator II position will be able to manage and lead projects with little to no supervision and be able to consistently meet project deadlines and budget limitations.
40% Manages and administers Backup/Restore/Disaster Recovery Solutions
30% Deploys, configures, and maintains Azure technologies to improve IT posture in automation, security, authentication, and support
15% Builds, maintains, monitors, and reports on on-prem and cloud Windows and Linux servers. This includes physical servers and virtual servers in Azure and/or VMWare.
5% Provide support on assigned tickets (Ivanti) in person and by phone
5% Documents procedures in professional, standard formats, including Disaster Recovery procedures
5% Other responsibilities as assigned
-Experience using Powershell or other scripting tools
-Familiar with AI concepts
-Experience with data center hardware (servers, SAN, fiber channel switches, etc.)
-Comprehensive knowledge of VMware, Azure, Veeam and other data center technologies
-Comprehensive knowledge of Windows and Linux
-Advanced knowledge of the personal computer
-Makes strategic decisions about system design, implementation, and maintenance.
-Identify shortfalls, vulnerabilities, and risk in existing designs and implementations. Develops roadmap and solutions for resolution.
-Proficient with project control and development along with the ability to coordinate multiple projects effectively.
-Development of methodology techniques.
-Ability to prepare concise, logical and conclusive oral and written reports
-Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate data.
-Ensure that all appropriate procedures are accurately documented, implemented, and maintained as required
-Ensure the ongoing operation of support functions to County employees by providing timely and advanced assistance and problem resolution.
-Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with County employees and outside entities as needed
– A 2-year degree (preferably a 4-year degree) in an information technology related field
-Experience working with backup and DR solutions, Veeam preferred
-Experience in working with Azure
-Experience in working with Windows server products
-Experience in working with VMWare
-Experience with Active Directory and network services such as IIS, DNS, DHCP
-Experience with Cisco unified computing systems
-Must have a valid driver’s license.
-Work may occasionally include weekends, evenings or split shifts.
-Requires participation in on-call rotation
-Must pass FBI CJIS security clearance, must be able to maintain confidentiality
Physical Elements: Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, and sit for periods of time. Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl under desks and other equipment.
Use of Equipment:
Ability to use a computer keyboard
Ability to operate other types of office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, printers, etc.
Work may involve weekends or after normal working hours in order to allow minimum disruptions to users and operations.
Working Conditions: Most work is indoors.
