We are seeking a senior level instrumentation and controls engineer in Houston to take a leading role on green hydrogen project development as we expand our energy transition portfolio.
This opening provides the opportunity to be meaningfully engaged with the development of hydrogen production facilities and hydrogen hub programs in multiple regions across North America. Demonstrated abilities include a broad understanding of process design, industrial systems, and instrumentation and control technologies. Experience in consulting, design, and EPC project delivery will be highly regarded, as will experience in Owner’s Engineer roles or advisory (technical advisor/due diligence) roles as well as strategic project development experience.
Your primary responsibilities will focus upon providing technical advisory and design solutions for hydrogen project development and technical delivery as part of the energy and power team. You will collaborate with our technical leadership, operations staff, client account managers and sales professionals on pursuits of strategic importance to the firm. You’ll be expected to possess highly collaborative and sophisticated communication and problem-solving skills.

· Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
· At least 10 years of design, consulting, or operations experience
· 10 years of experience in instrument specification, PLC control systems, P&ID development, control system architecture development, SCADA systems and networks.
· Experience with industrial PLC programming and hardware implementation (Allen Bradley PLC, Modicon or Siemens preferred)
· Experience commissioning of SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to maintain high availability of SCADA systems
· Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships and win work, and then deliver innovative solutions providing value to both the client and provider.
· Ability to work independently on a large array of tasks while providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
· Demonstrated ability for higher level strategic, exploration, concept, and development planning for new project opportunities, including knowledge and application of new and emerging technologies.
· Demonstrated skills on concept and developed design optimization programs to guide sound technical guidance for decision making
· Strong communication and technical writing skills
· Availability to work at least 3 days/week in Houston offices
The I&C Engineer will work alongside project teams to perform the following tasks:
· Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, perform startup and commissioning activities.
· Conduct site visits and testing and make recommendations for control systems improvements and designs.
· Ability to specify instrumentation such as pressure and flow transmitters, switches, and control valves for large water/wastewater projects.
· Knowledge of PLC Control system, SCADA system, and Human Machine Interface software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for large water/wastewater projects.
· Design of SCADA and Operational Technology networks including PLCs, servers/workstation, network switches and firewalls.
· Work with other engineering disciplines on large, complex projects design projects to incorporate equipment, process, and facility control concepts.
· Collaborate on proposals and contribute to client relationships and business development efforts.
· Select and troubleshoot field process instruments.
· Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment with multiple deadlines.
· Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution, office and personal environments
Other highly regarded qualifications include:
· Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain PE license within one year.
· Experience with:
o Electrolyzer technology
o Blue or green hydrogen production
o Hydrogen liquefaction
o Ammonia production
o Bulk storage and off-loading facilities for product transport
