The Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department is seeking a Wastewater Conveyance System Monitor in the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Section. In this position, you are responsible for the maintenance and insertion of a sophisticated specialty pipeline inspection van and equipment used in remote viewing and condition assessment of over 3,600 miles of pipelines, ranging in size from 4” to 60” in diameter, throughout the Pima County service area.
The successful candidate remotely drives a robotic camera through pipelines to visually observe active pipes that humans cannot observe in person. In this role, you will utilize industry-standard NASSCO-certified inspection standards to identify pipe abnormalities and are the leading edge for the department, in noticing and proactively preventing catastrophic system failures. Your work will also be fundamental toward compliance with state environmental requirements for the department.
As the Wastewater Conveyance System Monitor you must be highly proficient in computer operation and the use of specialized software applications, and must be particularly skilled in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair of specialized remotely operated camera equipment. On the inspection van, you are responsible for setup, insertion, troubleshooting, repair, and oversight of inspection equipment during pipeline inspections.

Installs, operates and maintains the flow monitoring, CCTV, and odor control equipment in the wastewater conveyance systems;
Inspects, collects and documents data relative to the quantity of odor levels, flow, type and condition of pipeline, obstructions, meter operation and other pertinent information;
Sets up and operates traffic control devices to facilitate the safe entry of manholes to install, operate, collect, adjust or service metering equipment;
Answers inquiries and provides information to the public regarding sanitary sewerage systems functions and conditions;
Participates in the selection of wastewater monitoring locations for reliable sample collection, flow metering, CCTV inspections andassessments, and testing odor levels;
Coordinates activities with Conveyance, Industrial Wastewater Control and Treatment Plants to minimize/avoid service disruption in compliance with state and federal permit regulations;
Participates in performing special surveys to collect data required for determining stormwater inflow, for setting rates and for use in planning and engineering;
Participates with the department in the development of improved or new techniques and procedures for measuring wastewater flow and/or odor levels;
Maintains, monitors, disassembles, cleans, reassembles, installs and tests equipment and makes necessary adjustments and/or minor repairs;
Maintains and operates assigned County equipment and vehicle;
Creates and maintains automated file systems for documenting collected data and producing reports;
Assists in the training of personnel in the procedures and techniques required for metering the sanitary sewage flow, performing CCTV inspections and assessments, and controlling odors in the conveyance systems.

Selection Procedure: Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications. Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record. Some positions require a valid Arizona commercial driver license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements, as identified by the appointing authority. CCTV position must obtain NASSCO pipeline, manhole, and lateral inspection certifications within the probation period. Failure to obtain/maintain the required certifications and/or licensure shall be grounds for termination
