This position has the primary responsibility of servicing group, employee benefits clients for satisfaction and retention. Position provides prompt, efficient, proactive, high-quality service to designated accounts and as back-up to account management team to all clients. Building highly effective working relationships with clients and servicing them to help them achieve their goals is a key objective.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Develop and maintain relationships with employer clients;
• Service clients to support them in understanding their benefits package and best practices for administration;
• Conduct small and large group employee presentations and meetings to educate employees on making benefit decisions, effectively utilizing their benefits and how to be a good consumer;
• Develop base knowledge of compliance and regulations impacting group health & welfare benefits and human resources to act as compliance resource to clients and identifying potential red flag issues and solutions;
• Review all forms, enrollment applications and master applications for completeness and accuracy before submitting to carrier and vendor partners;
• Manage all clients to client lifecycle defined based on their needs, partnering with account team and expert resources to provide excellent, unified service;
• Proactively manage client lifecycle, including renewals, through timely and accurate management of details and plans in client relationship management database (CRM);
• Manage email and client phone calls to exceed service standards for response time and adhere to our service excellence measure of ‘no client left wondering’;
• Align actions with needs of client and previously defined goals and objectives;
• Maintain accurate, complete and timely client goals, timelines, action items and interaction information in CRM
• Maintain a strong and productive working relationship with carriers and vendors, understanding of administrative practices and understanding of the products and services offered;
• Attend social functions in the community as opportunities present themselves, representing, JA Counter, Alera Group in a professional manner.
• Attend client and prospect meetings in person at client locations.

Position is held accountable to maintaining a world-class net promoter score (assessed through annual client surveys) and client retention of 97 percent (assessed annually).

Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in financial services or benefit services related position is required. 2+ years of Account Management or Service Experience is preferred.

• Read and interpret documents, such as summary plan descriptions, insurance certificates and contracts.
• Ability to listen actively and clearly document on-going activities and meetings while staying engaged in the content and process of the meeting.
• Communicate difficult, industry topics in a clear, concise manner that is understandable to a layperson.
• Ability to calculate figures and apply basic mathematical concepts.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables where varied standardization exists (ranging from no standardization to clearly defined processes).
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to work under high pressure for long periods of time.
• Ability to expand knowledge through multiple formats in and outside of standard work time.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills required, including use of Client Relationship Management (CRM) database and all tools within the Microsoft365 Office Suite (Forms, Word, Planner, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
