Overview

In partnership with the Vice President of Human Resources, the classification and compensation manager is responsible for managing the structure and compensation function for the ARH System. Plans, develops and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures in order to be responsive to ARH’s goals and competitive practices. Performs position and salary reviews, compensation surveys and trend analysis; advises management on organizational design, workforce planning, contract interpretation and salary placement; promotes strategic thinking and competitive, equitable and compliant practices.

Responsibilities

• Manages the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs.
• Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
• Conducts salary studies utilizing appropriate market and system wide data to determine the target market salary for various positions and competitiveness of ARH’s pay practices; recommend adjustments to ARH salary plans to maintain appropriate internal and external pay relationships; recommend and secure external survey reports to be used as benchmarks for salary studies
• Provides advice to corporate staff on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
• Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
• Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
• Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.
• Responds to department and employee requests for new and revised classifications.
• Conduct position reviews and classify all staff and management positions. Assists in the development of sound criteria for movement to higher classifications skill levels. Identify and address equity issues and concerns as they arise
• Provide support for department reorganizations including job evaluations, assessing potential compensation impact, providing compensation change recommendations, etc.
• Analyze new, redesigned and reassigned positions to determine the appropriate classification with ARH’s classification standards and to meet operation and staffing needs.
• Consult with manager and supervisors on writing and developing job description to meet staffing needs.
• Assist with labor relations for classified collective bargaining units especially in areas that intersect with classification and compensation.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.
• Serve on a variety of participatory and task specific committees, initiatives, teams and task forces as needed or requested.
• Maintain operational knowledge in other key human resources areas as employee relations, performance management, leave administration organization and career development, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), etc.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred in Human Resources, Business, or Related Field
• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or equivalent and certified compensation professional credentials preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years Progressive Experience in Human Resources, Business, Fiscal/Accounting or a related field

• Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with senior management
• Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
• Experience dealing with Multiple Union Contracts Preferred.
