This position is located in the Court Annexed Arbitration Program (CAAP). CAAP is a non-binding arbitration program for certain civil cases and provides litigants with a simplified procedure for obtaining prompt and equitable resolution of their cases; an early disposition of civil cases with savings in time and costs to the litigants and to the court without sacrificing the quality of justice; and expedites the disposition of smaller and more routine cases.
This position reflects the advanced trainee level and performs a variety of court annexed arbitration program assignments ranging from the simple to the moderately difficult which do not require the services of a fully trained professional Arbitration Program Specialist.
Education Requirement: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Progressively responsible experience in administrative, professional, investigative, technical, or other responsible work which has provided a general background in the field of arbitration, mediation, or negotiation may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Experience of a routine clerical nature is not qualifying.
Specialized Experience: Six (6) months of professional experience in an arbitration or mediation environment which demonstrated knowledge of procedures and requirements pertinent to conducting hearings of contested cases. Such experience must have been obtained through work which involved conducting research and study preparatory to conducting hearings. Experience must have involved analyzing evidence and presenting findings and recommendations. The experience must have also demonstrated knowledge of the basic court rules governing tort cases. Evidence of this level of knowledge may include work in a court annexed arbitration program or other legal setting which provided the pertinent knowledges.
Substitutions Allowed:
1) Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, political science, or related disciplines may be substituted for the Specialized experience.
2) Possession of a Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, political science, or related disciplines may be substituted for the Specialized experience.
