Associated Materials Hiring for Plant Manager – Manufacturing Operations Job at Cedar Rapids, IA Full Time

The successful candidate will lead our manufacturing plant in Cedar Rapids, IA. Initiative, leadership, data-driven decision making and metrics driven process improvement will be key differentiators in both the selection process and the successful execution of the roles and responsibilities of this key position. This position is a key member of the Manufacturing Operations Leadership Team. It is responsible to drive continuous and significant improvements in safety, quality, delivery and cost by developing an excellent organization, methodically & aggressively leading and directing a lean operating methodology, and establishing a stabilized workforce that successfully meets production goals.

OBJECTIVES:

• Passionately drive a lean operating system mentality and culture in a structured and prescriptive way leading the sustainment of the current lean operating system and designing/implementing improvements
• Drive rapid, significant and sustainable improvement in SQDC metrics

• Lead regular KPI reviews for the plant team to ensure attainment of results and a sense of urgency with respect to implementation priorities
• Build, coach and develop an outstanding team of production leaders
• Ensure key manufacturing metrics and key performance indicator systems are consistently tracking the appropriate measures and provoking appropriate responsive behavior
• Regularly present plans and report on actual results
• Continually evolve manufacturing efficiency and assess opportunities to reduce cost and expand capacity, taking aggressive action to drive financial performance in the areas of direct and indirect labor, and manufacturing overhead cost, as well as inventory levels
• Ensure effective allocation of resources across all areas of the plant to accomplish customer‐driven priorities.
• Coordinate effectively with corporate purchasing, supply chain, quality, continuous improvement, design engineering, and other functional organizations
• Partner with other plant managers and the broader management team to ensure the best possible product, and customer satisfaction
• Continually benchmark best practices and drive effective implementation

• VP of Window Manufacturing and Executive VP of Manufacturing Operations
• Plant Manufacturing Operations Leadership Team (peers)
• Plant Manufacturing Managers, Supervisors and support (HR, Finance, etc.) staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 10+ years of progressively responsible manufacturing leadership experience in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing environment, with build-to-order products
• Must demonstrate capability and experience in cultural and results-based manufacturing environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Management or Engineering or related field is required with a graduate degree desirable
• Demonstrates integrity, flexibility, sound judgment and strong critical thinking skills
