The Company: Athena Actuarial Consulting is a woman-owned consulting firm providing actuarial and analytical services across government, non-profit and corporate sectors. The firm was founded in August 2020 with the intention to scale quickly and intentionally from a one-person shop to a small employer focused on growing a diverse workforce. Athena’s emphasis on empowering women and other underrepresented groups is paired with strong technical expertise in the areas of retirement actuarial services, health actuarial services, data analytics, and data-driven decision-making. Athena currently operates as a Minnesota-based remote firm.
The Position: We are looking for an HR Generalist who is interesting in joining a mission-driven, people-first start-up organization. This exciting role will be well-suited for someone who is energized both by long-term people & culture strategy as well as boots-on-the-ground execution. Every day will feel different as you work closely with other functions to set the ATHENA team up for success.
In the HR Generalist role, you will report to the Operations Lead and collaborate across all functions to develop and implement ATHENA’s people strategy. You will be responsible for designing and establishing key employee policies and employee experience processes from the ground up that cultivate a positive work environment, and training staff on how to incorporate these policies into their daily tasks.
This is a paid, salaried, remote position. Employee will have the opportunity to set their working schedule based on their preference for virtual work vs. in-person office work at our downtown office.

Location: This position is remote, with those located in Minneapolis having the option to work at Athena’s headquarters. Depending on the state of travel due to the pandemic, 2-4 opportunities to travel for team building and in-person work weeks per year may be requested but not necessarily required.
Please note that proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required for employees wishing to travel for in-person team meetings (unless there is a religious or medical exemption).

Cash compensation range: $80,000-$98,000 USD Annually, with annual bonus opportunity of 10-20%
