We were founded by industry veterans in 2014, and since then have created The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow. The Molasses Flood is seeking an HR Manager to help build, guide and manage HR programs and practices for our growing studio. The person in this role will work closely with the People & Talent Lead, Management, and our international partners, and be their trusted source for information and updating of HR policies, in accordance with local and federal regulations.
This is a full time salaried position, and reports to the People & Talent Lead.
Work may be performed remotely within the continental US, or per our hybrid work model in the greater Boston area (Tues/Thurs in our office and other 3 days per week WFH). Relocation assistance is available.
Responsibilities
Management of HR programs for a video game studio of 50-60 employees, some local and some remote, within the US.
Field employee inquiries on a wide range of matters related to HR programs and benefits.
New hire onboarding, including initiation of benefits and team coordination.
Benefits administration using proprietary carrier portals.
Research and make proposals for HR policy updates and changes.
Maintain employee records and data.
Revision and upkeep of Employee Handbook.
Maintain employee facing documentation and notices regarding federal and state regulations.
Set up and maintain HRIS using ADP Workforce Now.
Work with People & Talent Lead on strategies to tackle Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, training & advancement, and general studio culture.
Research HR and payroll policies of the various states the company has employees in, and ensure compliance for each state.
Lead the performance management process.
Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum 4 years professional experience as an HR generalist.
Experience with benefits administration, COBRA, FMLA.
Experience with 401K management.
Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS.
Proficient with Google suite: Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets.
Proficient with MS Word, Excel.
Discretion in handling sensitive information and documents.
Organized and proactive.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Candidates must have a US work permit or citizenship.
Curiosity, kindness, and a positive and professional can-do attitude.
Nice to Haves
Previous experience in the game industry and/or love of video games.
Experience with MA state FMLA program.
Payroll processing experience.
Degree in HR or PHR / SPHR certification.
