The CDC Foundation is seeking a candidate for a full-time policy analyst to support the implementation of a project which aims to reduce drowning in the United States (US). During the two-year initiative, the project team, in collaboration with public health agencies and other internal and external partners, aims to develop evidence-based resources to inform key drowning prevention strategies across the US. The policy analyst will utilize systems-level thinking to assess the effectiveness and implementation of state and local municipality water safety and pool fencing legislation. The ideal candidate will also be able to apply rigorous standards to the review of scientific literature and policy initiatives to ensure adherence to ethical standards of public health and integration of principles of health equity to support the removal of structural and systemic barriers to drowning prevention.
The policy analyst position is an interdisciplinary role that brings together strong technical and analytical skills, with knowledge of public health, social policy and/or drowning prevention. The combined skills and experience are essential to ensure the strategic objectives of the project are met.
The staff member will be hired by the CDC Foundation and work closely with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. This is an outstanding opportunity to work in collaboration with the CDC, the nation’s lead agency charged with protecting the public’s health.
