As a consultant for corporate clients, the Communications Specialist develops, implements and evaluates communications strategies, plans and deliverables for primarily internal audiences. The individual develops and implements key communications campaigns and activities, establishing priority and timing, and is responsible for researching, writing and editing all forms of content on a regular basis. Communications can include feature articles, presentations, press releases, various corporate reports, talking points, web content, lock screen and monitor messaging, and video scripts.

The Communications Specialist compiles, QCs and distributes the daily news aggregation, CITGO Today and Houston News via the SnapComms platform; and publishes the CITGO Plus magazine via Kentico web content management platform.

The Communications Specialist serves as one of the company’s representatives on the Worst-Case Drill, Crisis Communications and Business Continuity Teams.

The Communications Specialist must have the maturity and confidence to interact with executives and high ranking members of national and international media, national and international institutions, government and non-government agencies.

Degree

• College Degree (Bachelors Level) or equivalent in Communications, English, Marketing or related field.

The minimun number of years of job related experience required by this job is

• 3 – 5 years.

• Exceptional English writing ability is required.
• Superior oral presentation skills.
• Experience developing strategic communication projects from conceptualization to production, distribution and evaluation for internal and external audiences.
• Advanced knowledge and operative best practices in corporate communications, key messages, target audiences, media relations, traditional and social mass media and strategic communications with other constituents including senior/high ranking individuals.
• Ability to plan and coordinate communications projects/ products with internal clients, external vendors, partners and consultants.
• Demonstrable ability with Microsoft Office suite.
• Web content management, internal communications platform software and project management software experience preferred.
• Some travel required.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Acts as communications consultant focusing on corporate initiatives, by developing communication strategies and plans. Works closely with management to ensure communications campaigns and strategies are implemented in a timely and effective manner.
• Through proactive engagement with a wide variety of corporate content owners, researches and writes effective, accurate communications. Communications can include items such as feature articles, presentations, press releases, various corporate reports, talking points, web content, lock screen and monitor messaging, and video scripts.
• Compiles, QCs and distributes the daily news aggregation, CITGO Today and Houston News via the SnapComms platform; and CITGO Plus magazine via the Kentico web content management platform. of Maintains the annual editorial content calendar.
• Effectively project manages initiatives by working with IT support; web design/development team; photographers; videographers; in-house designers; and agencies to ensure timely deployment of communications utilizing the Atlassian/Jira project management platform when appropriate. Works with content owners and digital web team to keep content current on web properties.
• Serves as one of the company’s representatives on the Worst-Case Drill, Crisis Communications and Business Continuity Teams. Supports implementation of both internal and external communications processes and products regarding sensitive issues or crisis situations, primarily focused on providing support via digital communications.
