Description Of Duties/Essential Function
The Houston Public Library is seeking an energetic, flexible, team-oriented person with a passion for customer service to work as an Administrative Specialist (Story Development Specialist). The successful candidate will have a professional presence, be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, provide exceptional customer service, enjoy learning, be at ease multitasking in a fast-paced office, and be able to interact with individuals from various cultures and professional levels. The Story Development Specialist will work closely with the Senior Division Manager in the Office of the COO and leadership at all levels to successfully share our story nationally and beyond. The individual in this position will be responsible for writing and developing content and proactively identifying award and recognition opportunities for the library, both industry and non-industry. This process includes researching, writing, collaborating, reporting, and tracking.
The Administrative Specialist (Story Development Specialist) Will

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires stooping and bending; lifting of library materials up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight. Must be able to move freely throughout the library to file/retrieve library materials. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
Experience Requirements
Three (3) years of administrative experience are required. Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis .
License Requirements
A valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving (AP 2-2).
