ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following)
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists customers in person, by phone or e-mail by answering inquiries related to department services, programs, and records; serves as frontline contact for the department; provides information regarding human resources related issues; directs visitors and phone calls to the appropriate area; answers questions and resolves routine problems; and refers issues requiring policy interpretation to the appropriate staff member.
Arranges and schedules meetings, exams, interviews and other HR related events by notifying attendees, reserving rooms, coordinating materials, and making other arrangements when requested.
Performs a variety of clerical support duties including copying and assembling materials, maintaining appointment calendars, collecting and distributing mail, faxing documents, ordering office supplies, scheduling office equipment maintenance, and other related tasks.
Verifies and reviews materials for accuracy, completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures. Researches history or records to provide information needed to address a concern, issue or problem.
Assists applicants and employees with the proper use and completion of personnel related forms and documents; receives and reviews documents for inclusion of all required information and routes as appropriate.
Enters information into various databases; assures accuracy of data input, and routes supporting documentation as required.
Participates in the records retention and maintenance functions by receiving, verifying, organizing, and processing documents related to Human Resources functions.
Maintains Human Resource files, forms, documentation, and information, including electronic documentation; maintains confidentiality of all work-related matters, personnel records, and information; ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, including the maintenance of up-to-date legal postings.
Assists with various special projects or programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Attributes:Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent
One (1) year of office administrative/customer service experience in a Human Resources, or similar environment
Typing or word processing at a speed necessary for adequate job performance.
Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good knowledge of office practices including records retention, filing, and the operation of standard office equipment
Some knowledge of the practices and procedures of Human Resources administration; and the laws and regulations relating to Human Resource functions
Ability to communicate effectively; work independently; multi-task; update and maintain comprehensive filing and database systems; deal courteously and professionally with the public; and establish and maintain effective working relationships
Intermediate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regularly required to work in a typical office environment, use standard office equipment, read printed material and a computer terminal/screen, communicate in person and over the telephone, and is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel, climb or balance, talk and hear, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Regular and timely attendance required.
