POSITIONS DESCRIPTION:
This position performs a variety of technical, routine, and non-routine administrative services for the Public Works (PW) Department. The PW Coordinator:
Serves as a primary point of contact for departmental employees and the general public.
Prepares and processes work orders received from the public and other City departments.
Serves as the clerk to the Parks Board and provides support before, during, and after meetings including preparing minutes of the meetings and coordinating any follow-up items. Meetings are held once a month in the evening.
Coordinates compliance and reporting responsibilities for cross-connection control backflow program, water facilities, water quality and water use efficiency.
Oversees transactions for the Ridgefield Historic Cemetery and manages the City’s cemetery database and map.
Updates and maintains departmental records, filing systems, databases, and/or policy manuals.
Public Works Coordinator is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position. The position is covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Teamsters Local 58 and the City of Ridgefield.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
The City is seeking an experienced and professional Administrative Specialist with:
High school diploma or equivalent;
Two years experience involving significant interaction with the general public; experience with a local government entity and/or Public Works is preferred;
Knowledge of modern office procedures and systems and experience working with a cross connection backflow program and water quality;
Ability to learn, manage projects, work independently and effectively on multiple tasks with interruptions, be self-motivated and have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Energy, creativity, sound judgment and the ability to work at times with minimal direction.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT:
The City of Ridgefield’s Public Works Department supports the community’s quality of life and economic vitality by managing the planning, design, construction, and operation of all City-owned public infrastructure to meet the needs of the community. As the city of Ridgefield continues to rapidly grow, the Ridgefield Public Works Department has and will be responsible for designing, managing construction of, and maintaining, a variety of key assets including streets, sidewalks, water rights/wells, stormwater facilities, community parks, and even a City cemetery.
Department employees work closely with the Community Development Department to provide design guidelines, requirements, and oversight for the development and installation of all capital and development projects associated with the new and existing infrastructure, which are vital to the community.

Leave benefits currently include vacation accrual up to 80 hours during your first year of employment, 11 paid holidays per year, 3 additional paid floating holidays and 8 hours accrued sick leave each month.
