Position Description
The City of Tacoma Human Resources Department seeks an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join their team. In this role you will be an integral member of the Talent Solutions team and will be tasked with providing strategic input, insight, and advice with respect to employee relations, coaching and development, performance management, conflict management, organizational change and more.

Under the direction of the Assistant Human Resources Director, this position contributes to this mission by providing leadership in developing and administering comprehensive human resources management programs, assuring compliance with federal, state, and local government laws, and promoting best human resources management practices.

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or directly related field.
Minimum Experience*
6 years of progressively responsible experience including 1 year as a supervisor or manager.

Other Employment Information
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.

Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, human resource management, or a closely related field (related work experience will substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis)?

Do you have six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience (to include 1 year as a supervisor or manager) in public employment and labor relations, to include advising managers, supervisors, and staff in personnel management, administering labor contracts, managing employee performance, and in interpreting federal, state and local laws.
