Job Summary
Comcast’s corporate communications team in Washington, DC manages the company’s brand reputation in DC and executes communications strategies that support messaging around our legislative and federal regulatory advocacy efforts across Comcast NBCUniversal. This group works closely with both the communications team based at our HQ in Philadelphia as well as various government affairs teams in the DC office. The Government Communications Coordinator will support the team in designing communications plans, engaging with key stakeholders (including press), producing written content for publication and distribution, and planning corporate events. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter who thinks strategically and can handle multiple tasks simultaneously with efficiency. A key part of this role is the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team that may include members from other parts of the company, including government affairs, legal, external affairs, and PR teams across the country.
Job Description
You will:
Draft communications materials: talking points, speeches, blog posts, email pitches, press releases, and more.
Support executive communications, including email notes, blogs, and social media.
Assist in the development and execution of Comcast’s corporate special events, including virtual events and hybrid events as we continue to evolve our events strategy.
Compile and maintain targeted media lists; research reporters & bloggers.
Track and report media coverage surrounding specific announcements and general policy topics.
Design graphics and create social media content in line with corporate brand guidelines.
Support other communications projects as assigned.
Perform light administrative duties supporting a senior communications executive.
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements
1-3 years of experience (including internships) in communications, including public relations, government, corporate communications, and journalism.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, journalism, political science, and/or public policy preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign experience a plus.
Strong interest in the telecommunications, cable and media industries – as well as politics and public policy.
Excellent written communication skills. Writing samples will be required if selected for an interview.
Strong research skills.
Keen communications intuition, strong interpersonal skills, and a team-player approach.
Must have great attention to detail and organizational skills.
Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
Authorized to work in the United States of America.
