The Accountant-Auditor role is unique to the Office of the Auditor-Controller and has a broad scope, encompassing county-wide financial activities. The primary mission of the Office of the Auditor-Controller is to ensure the fiscal integrity of the County’s financial records and provide excellent service, assistance, and information to the public, Board of Supervisors, County Administrator’s Office, County Departments and Employees, Special Districts, and some regional non-county agencies. The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six months.
Education: 1) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, finance, accounting or a closely related field. Course work must have included at least 12 semester or 18 quarter units from among the following accounting courses: Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Governmental Accounting, Fund Accounting, Cost Accounting, or Auditing; or 2) Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certification, Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP) certification, or the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification.
Internal Substitution for Education:
Four (4) years of full time (or its equivalent) experience as an Accounting or Payroll Technician for Contra Costa County and at least 12 semester or 18 quarter units from the above listed accounting/auditing courses, which must be transferrable to an accredited college or university system for credit, may be substituted for the required education.
License Required: Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
