The position will be based in Canada. Demant Canada, part of the Demant Group, has a head office located at the Madison Centre, 4950 Yonge Street, 16th Floor, North York, Ontario. Demant Canada consists of a group of companies dedicated to manufacturing and developing technology related to hearing aids, hearing implants, diagnostic equipment, audio equipment; and operating leading health care clinics across Canada.

Responsibilities:

Scope

Reporting to the VP, HR North America, the Human Resources Director is responsible for managing the Human Resources function for the Company’s Canadian Hearing Aids business, while leading a team of two HR professionals on day to day support as well as specific projects aligned to the Company, Country and Functional Strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide counsel to management group regarding human resources policies and processes relating to employment law, employee relations, performance, discipline, rewards and recognition, accountability, working conditions, compensation, etc.
• Manage staffing function with management team regarding headcount requirements, approvals, recruiting, transfers, promotions/demotions, training/professional development, terminations, succession planning, and reductions in workforce
• Work closely with the management team to plan and allow for adequate training and professional development of employees to ensure their continued growth, motivation, and success in meeting the Company’s objectives
• Lead annual employee survey process and guide managers on process follow ups and action plans
• Ensure internal communications are consistent with Company policies and procedures and to maintain good working relationships between employees and the management group
• Conduct internal investigations as required
• Act in an oversight capacity regarding employee events
• Facilitate resolution of highly sensitive, confidential employee relations issues by working closely with the management group and employees. Must be able to handle these situations tactfully, timely, confidentially, and professionally
• All other duties as assigned

Special Projects or Project Oversight

• HR Systems optimization projects including compensation approvals, carrier feeds, analytics and dashboard module launch, etc.
• Improvement of the Performance Review program
• Benefits plan redesign for improved employee experience and cost efficiencies
• Compliance on safety programs and committees
• Assess and make recommendations on employee service recognition program
• Refresh New Hire Onboarding program and drive a technology-based experience
• Design and implement a compensation structure for the production team

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• A post-secondary diploma and/or degree in Human Resources or related field is required
• CHRL or CHRE Designation preferred
• Must have 10+ years of experience in a Human Resources environment with 3+ years in a leadership position
• Advanced knowledge in the areas of compensation practices, benefits program, HR Systems
• ADP Workforce Now experience would be ideal
• Demonstrate a high level of integrity and a proactive approach to customer service
• Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects required
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
