Job Summary:
Reporting to the Human Resources Director (HRD), the Human Resources Associate (HRA) serves as a generalist and performs a wide variety of administrative duties. Special emphasis is on compliance and legal, recruitment and selection, organizational development, performance, and compensation. The HRA will deliver support on the full range of initiatives and establish partnerships across the company ensuring HR supports DJA’s values and strategic goals. Develop and manage a detailed project management schedule and work plan for monitoring human resource strategic initiatives and other projects. Manages Office Assistants to ensure services are performed to requirements.
Responsibilities:
Management of HR Strategy and Indicators: Works with the HR Director (HRD) to create and measure performance of a strategy and plan for HR services. Participates in developing HR department goals, objectives and systems and assessment.
Builds HR Knowledge: In partnership with HRD, regularly refreshes knowledge of HR laws and regulations. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law. Serves as a consultant on HR issues, laws, policy, and personnel matters.
HR Associate Network: Establishes across company partnerships to ensure that employee focused programming in every department supports DJA’s values and strategic goals. Create and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external constituents.
Diversity Assurance: Works with HRD to ensure DJA manages HR compliance with federal and state non-discrimination laws such as Title VII, Title IX, and the New York Human Rights Law.
HR Compliance Management: Oversees the compliance calendar for the Human Resources Office and ensure all responsibilities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
HR Research: Assists HRD as necessary with any legal matters associated with employee grievances and complaints. Support can include research, preparing draft responses, etc.
HR Safety Incident Investigation: In consultation with the HRD, conducts investigations of health and safety incidents, HR issues, and HR legal claims compliance with regulations and statutes.
Performance Management – In consultation with HRD, monitors and addresses employee performance and relation concerns; serves as a resource for supervisors experiencing staff conflicts, disciplinary or performance concerns. Compensation Assessment In consultation with HRD, provide in-depth review of compensation and best practices (wages, benefits, professional development and all other aspects of a total compensation package).
HR Project Management: Conduct research, develop and manage a detailed project management schedule and work plan for monitoring strategic employment initiatives and other human resources projects.
HR Training: Develop and deliver training to supervisory faculty and staff on topics such as performance management, labor and employment law, implicit bias, employee relations, etc.
Employee Orientation: Participate in new employee orientation programming, and create a welcoming, inclusive environment for new hires to ensure a successful on-boarding experience.
DJA Committee Participation: Serve in DJA committees as identified and agreed by HRD, and as appropriate represents HR in cross company.
Plans, Organizes, and facilitates key OD activities: In partnership with HRD, plans, schedules, organizes and facilitates all related activities for Key OD activities including BOD, EXCO, Department Strategy meetings, etc.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge in all functional areas of human resources including, but not limited to recruitment, training, performance management, compensation and benefits, onboarding, immigration services, policy development and implementation and employment law compliance.
Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
Adept in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)
Experience with DJA property management business
Ability to perform mathematical computations with high degree of accuracy
High level of communication skills across multiple disciplines
Excellent problem-solving abilities
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced and demanding environment
Ability to be flexible and anticipate needs of the department
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least two years or relevant experience preferred
